Homeworld ("Homeworld", "we", "us", or "our") is a family chore app that lets everyone in a household earn points toward a shared landmark. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Homeworld mobile app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Homeworld, you agree to this policy.
If you have any questions, contact us any time at thesidiklab@gmail.com.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create a household or join one, we collect the details needed to run your account — such as your name (or display name), the email address you sign in with, and your household membership. Kids added by a parent may only have a display name and an avatar; no email or sign-in is required for them.
Household & gameplay data
To provide the core experience, we store the content you create in the app, including:
- Household members, their display names, roles, and avatars.
- Chores, points, streaks, completed tasks, and the landmark your household is building.
- Finished landmarks filed in your World Passport, and rewards your household sets.
Purchase information
If you subscribe to Homeworld Pro, purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not collect or store your credit card or payment details. We receive a confirmation of subscription status so we can unlock Pro features for your household.
Diagnostic & usage data
We collect limited technical data to keep the app stable — such as crash reports, error logs, device model, operating system version, and basic in-app events. This helps us fix bugs and improve the app.
Push notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a notification token for your device so we can send you chore reminders and household updates. Reminders name the chore, never the person — Homeworld does not send messages that tell one family member what another has or hasn't done. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
Advertising identifier & install attribution
We measure which ads and links bring new families to Homeworld, so we know where to spend a small marketing budget. On iOS this uses your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), and we ask your permission first through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, no advertising identifier is read — the app works exactly the same. On Android the equivalent identifier is subject to your system-level ad personalization setting, which you can reset or opt out of in Android Settings.
This is used to attribute installs and measure marketing, not to build an advertising profile about your family: we do not serve ads in Homeworld, we do not sell your data, and your household's chores, members, and gameplay content are never used for advertising purposes.
Website
We measure how people find and use the Homeworld website — pages viewed, the link or campaign that referred you, and whether you clicked through to an app store or played our demo video — using PostHog. Our website analytics stores nothing on your device: no cookies, no local storage, and no identifier that outlives the tab you have open. That is why you see no cookie banner here. We do not use advertising trackers on the website, and it never asks for your name or email. Separately, our hosting provider Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from automated abuse.
If you play the demo video on our home page, it loads from YouTube only at the moment you press play, and YouTube then receives your request as its own. Until you press play, nothing is requested from YouTube.
How we use your information
- To create and operate your household and sync it across each member's device.
- To run the core loop — tracking chores, points, landmarks, and rewards.
- To provide Homeworld Pro features to subscribing households.
- To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve performance and features.
- To send the reminders and household updates you have allowed.
- To measure which ads and links bring new families to Homeworld, where you have permitted it.
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads inside Homeworld, and we do not share your household's content with advertisers. The only marketing measurement we do is counting installs against the ads and links that produced them, as described above.
How your information is stored
Homeworld uses Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, and Crashlytics) to store and sync your data and to report crashes. Your data is held on Google Cloud infrastructure and is protected in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption. Access is limited to what is needed to operate the service.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers, each with their own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, file storage, crash reporting, and analytics.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — app distribution and subscription billing.
- RevenueCat — subscription management, so we know which households have Homeworld Pro.
- OneSignal — delivering push notifications to your device.
- PostHog — product analytics, to understand which features families actually use.
- Layers — growth analytics and install attribution, including the advertising identifier described above where you have permitted it.
These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Children's privacy
Homeworld is designed to be used by families, including children, but it is set up and managed by a parent or guardian. Accounts are created by an adult, and children participate under that adult's household. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children beyond the display name and avatar an adult chooses to add. A parent or guardian can review, edit, or remove a child's information at any time from within the app, or by contacting us at thesidiklab@gmail.com.
Your choices and rights
- Access & correction — you can view and edit household member details, chores, and rewards directly in the app.
- Deletion — you can delete members, chores, or your entire household from the app. To request deletion of your account and all associated data, email thesidiklab@gmail.com and we will process it promptly.
- Tracking — on iOS you can change your choice at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. On Android, use Settings › Privacy › Ads to reset or delete your advertising ID.
- Notifications — you can turn off reminders in your device settings without affecting anything else in the app.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your household is active. If you delete your household or ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data from our active systems, except where we are required to retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Homeworld after an update means you accept the revised policy.
